Do yourself a favor-stay somewhere else. The dirtiest hotel I've ever been in. Looks okay on the surface until you see the sheets are stained, the mattress cover is pee- stained and the mattress itself is stained with I don't know what. There was also evidence of bed bugs with stains on the bed skirt. Horrible! Marriott's have always been scrupulously clean. I don't know what happened to this one.

From the valets out front to the bell person to the front desk, the service was superb. We felt like we were checking into a five star hotel. The concierge rooms on the 4th floor are the way to go---they cost $30 more but the free breakfast and free appetizers at night are worth it plus the flat screen TV's and the refrigerator in the room. It would be nice if they added a microwave, but you can always use the one in the concierge lounge. The pool area was quiet and clean and the walk to the beach was short and picturesque. The fitness center was pretty complete and right next to the pool which was nice. The beds were comfortable and I like the turn down service. The biggest issue I had was the restaurant. The service was terrible. We just walked out after not being served for 15 minutes. Also, it would be nice if they had a better cable system in the rooms so you could pick up the Dodgers games. I did notice some maintenance issues around the building like chipped paint on the walls and our sliding glass doors in our room were scratched and the handle was about to fall off, but hopefully, they will improve on that when the economy improves. The bottom line is the Marriott Ventura is a great value, especially when you consider you would pay at least twice as much to stay in a comparable hotel in Santa Barbara which is only 30 minutes away. We will definitely come back. It's an inexpensive vacation and you can really relax here.

The freeway was yard away from the hotel and noise kept me up all night. The individual pacing the room above us and the people running in the hall ways didn't help either. The staff was friendly and the room was nice but I do like a quiet place to rest my head.

Close to the beach, our room was near the pool. Room was clean & comfortable, but the bathroom was not what I expected at this caliber of hotel. There was rust & mildew in the bath tub & the whole bathroom needed to be gutted & redone. The personnel were most friendly & helpful. The restaurant excellent, food was good, and service excellent.
